Sueojangdae

Sueojangdae is one of the most important landmarks inside Namhansanseong. Built as the western command post of the fortress, it was used as a lookout point and a place for directing military defense. Even though the structure is not large, it carries strong historical meaning and remains one of the key places to see in the fortress.

What makes Sueojangdae especially memorable is its position. Set high inside the fortress, it offers a clear sense of the mountain stronghold’s scale and atmosphere. The pavilion also stands out because it is the only remaining command post pavilion among those that once existed in Namhansanseong.

Sueojangdae works best as part of a walking route through Namhansanseong rather than as a stop on its own. Even a short visit feels worthwhile because the site combines fortress scenery, military history, and one of the most symbolic views in the area.
